I’m very fortunate to live by the beach and as soon as the sun came out, my family and I took this as a perfect opportunity to go down to the beach hut for Mother’s Day!
It was such a lovely day spent eating afternoon tea and drinking prosecco with all our closest family and friends. I’ll do a separate post on the actual day but thought I’d focus this one on the dress I wore.
I don’t usually wear dresses as I’m much more comfortable wearing jeans or trousers, but I’ve had this dress sat in my wardrobe for nearly 10 months now and thought it was time to get it out!
As the sun was shining and it seemed to be quite warm outside (I soon found out it wasn’t!) I thought this dress would fit perfectly for the day we had planned. I knew we would have a few photos with my mum throughout the day so wanted to make a little bit more effort than usual and look smart and girly, whilst still staying casual.
I love the wrap style of this dress and feel with the short sleeves, midi length and tie waist; it really suited my figure. As I knew we would be eating a lot of naughty / high carb foods, the loose fit of the dress also made me feel very comfortable.
It’s also quite rare for me to wear patterned or printed dresses but I thought the print on this wasn’t too much and still kept the dress quite elegant and feminine, especially as the colours were kept simple which I felt helped make it look quite mature.
Unfortunately I got this last year from Warehouse so it’s no longer available, but there is still some stock left in the sale in size 6 on ASOS – buy here.
I loved this dress and will make sure not to leave it at the back of my wardrobe for so long again, but the only downfall I have to say about it is the sizing. I’m usually between a size 6-8 and got this dress in a size 6 and it was still quite loose on me! So if you’re thinking of looking for the dress I’d suggest getting a size down to try first and going from there.
