Ever since I started working in London I have wanted to go to one of The Ivy restaurants. Known for being popular amongst celebrities and having a reputation to please all customers, I couldn’t wait to try out The Ivy Soho Brasserie that opened in Feb this year.
I actually went here first about a month ago for dinner, which I loved, with some work friends but decided to come back during my lunch break to have a taste of their cream tea. What a great way to spend my hour lunch break!
I came with my close friend Kay and we booked a table for outside. Fortunately for us the weather was warm and dry but there are heaters outside too which also keep you nice and toasty when there’s a bit of a chill or cold wind, and also a cover incase the weather decides to turn wet. We both ordered the cream tea which comes with a choice of teas and coffee. I chose a peppermint tea and Kay ordered a vanilla iced coffee.
I was actually expecting to only get one scone with the “cream tea” so was pleasantly surprised when it came out as a mini afternoon tea on a small cake stand. We were given 3 generously sized sweet scones with a pot of jam, cream and fresh strawberries. I thought the strawberries were such a lovely touch!
In total we paid £12 each, which included the price of the cream tea, a drink and a discretionary tip, but I think for what we got this is a very reasonable price – especially in such a reputable restaurant. If you’re out shopping by oxford street and wanting a break, or looking to have a catch up during a lunch hour I would definitely recommend this, but would suggest booking in advance. I know I will be back!
