I love festivals. I find them such a great excuse to get your funkiest outfit on and really have your style and personality let loose through the clothes you wear. As much as I enjoy watching the acts and listening to the music, I love people watching and seeing how they dress. Dressing for a festival is all part of the fun, right?!
Now, usually I would plan my outfit WEEKS in advance and have several options lined up AKA being organised… but when I went to lovebox this was not the case at all. I’ve been super swept over with work that I haven’t had a chance to online shop or look in town. I’ve also never been to lovebox so didn’t know what sort of festival style it would be… do you know how hard it is to dress for something you’ve not been to before?! bohemian with cowboy boots and a floral dress? Simple with denim shorts and a band tee? Ravey with a face smothered in glitter? I had no idea!
I left it super last minute and put an order through at prettylittlething Wednesday night with next day delivery. I also hit the Missguided Stratford store after work Thursday running around like a headless chicken; eagerly putting everything and anything that looked remotely cool into my arms as if I was playing supermarket sweep. Friday morning came – and after trying on about 8 possible options 3 times each, messaging all my girlfriends urgently asking they give me their * honest * opinion (even though deep down I knew what I wanted to wear), throw a mini tantrum in there and I decided on this outfit and was good to go!
This outfit is actually a bit different to what I normally would wear but I loved it. I’m usually very quick to compare myself to other girls and put myself down, so tend to keep ~fairly~ covered up. I usually pick up pieces of clothing that are a little bit different and try them on, but return them for not feeling “cool” enough to pull them off. I’ve seen these mesh trousers around for a while and thought what better time to break my mould and give them a go!
The trousers came up high waisted which suited my figure, so I paired them with this lace up swimsuit I found amongst my heap of panic-buy-items from missguided, and then added a choker and this belt for final touches and felt it all worked well together. Matt also agreed and said it was his favourite outfit of mine and suggested I go with this option.
I was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of my outfit Insta post and how many people messaged me to say they liked it too. It really gave me the confidence boost I needed! It’s also made me realise that I should definitely stop being so nervous to wear clothes that may be a little bit different because I’m worried about what other people will think; as long as I like it and am comfortable that should be all that matters! Maybe this is the start of me finally wearing those clothes I never thought I could pull off and just going for it!? Let’s see how long this will last…
